Privacy policy

Last updated 24 September 2026

reseluna is front-desk software for lodging properties — hostels, guesthouses, small hotels. It runs on the property's own Mac. This page explains what information reseluna handles, where it goes, and how long it is kept.

It is written for two groups of people: guests who book a stay with a property that uses reseluna, and the owners and staff who use the app.

The short version
  • A property's guest list lives on its own Mac, not with us.
  • Payments go straight to the property's own Stripe account. We never see card numbers.
  • A booking made on a property's website passes through our server only until the property's Mac collects it, and is deleted shortly after.
  • No advertising, no tracking cookies, no analytics in the app, and we never sell information.

Who we are

reseluna is made and run by Thomas Miakisz, an individual business based in Japan. For anything about privacy, write to contact@reseluna.com, or by post to:

Booking on a property's website or on reseluna.com

When you book through a reseluna booking form, you give the property your name, email address, phone number, country, arrival time, any notes, your answers to the property's own questions, your dates and the number of guests. This is sent to the reseluna booking server so that the property's Mac can collect it. We keep it there only for as long as that takes:

Your choice of language on the booking form is remembered in your own browser (one setting, called sw_lang). reseluna sets no cookies.

Paying

You pay on Stripe's secure page, and the money goes to the property's own Stripe account — reseluna is never the merchant. Stripe handles your card under its own privacy policy. We receive only whether the payment went through, the amount, and Stripe's reference for it; later refunds and disputes are passed to the property the same way.

Emails about your booking

Booking confirmations are sent through Resend, an email delivery service, on the property's behalf. Your email address and the booking details in the message pass through Resend, which keeps a record of the messages it sends under its own policy.

Bookings made on Booking.com, Airbnb and similar sites

If you book the property through another booking site, that site sends your booking to the property through a channel manager (Channex), and the property's Mac collects it. What you gave that site is covered by its own privacy policy. Notices from Channex about the property's connections are deleted from our server after seven days.

After your booking arrives

From then on your details are held by the property, on its own Mac, and the property decides how they are used — in data-protection terms it is the controller, and reseluna only carries the booking to it. To see, correct or remove your details, ask the property. reseluna gives every property a way to erase a guest's personal details completely while keeping the invoices and payment records that tax law requires it to keep. If you cannot reach the property, write to us and we will help.

What stays on your Mac

Your bookings, guests, payments, invoices, rates, staff, documents, ID scans and journal live in the app's database on your Mac. We cannot see them. Your backups are written to the folder you choose (for example iCloud Drive or Dropbox), under your own account with that service. ID scans can be deleted automatically after a period you set, and a guest can be erased at any time.

What goes to the reseluna booking server

The booking server runs on Cloudflare. It holds only what the website booking form, the directory and your alerts need:

WhatWhyHow long
Rooms, prices, rules, taxes, extras and which nights are free — never who is staying So your booking form and listing can show prices and availability Replaced every time your Mac syncs
Your property profile and photos Your booking form, and your public listing on reseluna.com if you keep it switched on Until you change them or leave
Your account: property name and the owner's email address To run your account and send you sign-up and service emails Until you leave
Sign-up records: the email and internet (IP) address used to sign up To recognise and stop fake sign-ups, and to help if you contact support Kept, also after you leave
When your Mac last checked in, and the address for alerts To email you if the front desk goes offline Until you leave
Your Stripe keys and email-sending settings To take payments into your account and send your emails Until you remove them in the app
Guests' website bookings on their way to your Mac See If you are a guest Days, as described there

We keep no web server logs of our own. Cloudflare, our host, processes connection details such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service, under its own policy.

Services the app uses when you switch them on

The app contains no advertising, no analytics and no crash-reporting service. The trial and licence are checked on your Mac, without contacting us.

Leaving

Write to contact@reseluna.com and we will remove your property and everything listed above from the booking server, except the sign-up record, which is kept so that a fake sign-up can still be recognised. What is on your Mac and in your backups is yours to keep or delete.

Where information is processed

The booking server's database is held in Cloudflare's Asia-Pacific region, and email is sent through Resend's Tokyo region. Cloudflare, Stripe, Channex, Resend and Crisp operate internationally, so information may be processed outside your own country, under each company's safeguards.

Security

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Each property has its own key to the booking server, stored by us only as a salted hash, so one property can never read or change another's information. Passwords and keys on your Mac are kept in the macOS Keychain, and staff sign in to the app with their own PIN.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Write to contact@reseluna.com. If you are a guest, the property holds most of your details, so it is usually the quickest to ask — we will help if you cannot reach it. You may also complain to the data-protection authority where you live.

Children

reseluna is for businesses and their staff. Guests book through the property, and we do not knowingly collect information from children other than what a property records about a family's stay.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
